Joining Fraunhofer IDMT as Head of R&D group 'Connected Health'

I am very pleased to announce that today I have joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technologies IDMT to establish and lead the new R&D group “Connected Health”.

The aim of setting up a new group in the Connected Health work area is to use sensors close to the body to record vital and health parameters without the need for an extensive clinical-medical infrastructure, and to use these data for preventive health care, diagnosis and therapy. The focus of development is on hardware integration for body-supported, multimodal sensor technology as well as classification and data analysis using machine learning methods. Concrete application scenarios here are, for example, pronunciation analysis and speech training for rehabilitation and therapy support in speech therapy, the recording and classification of body-related sounds such as breathing, or the analysis of movement data, for example in the context of Parkinson’s disease.

I am very happy about this opportunity and the new tasks and experiences that are yet to come.
